    Democritus Atomic Model

    Democritus Atomic Model
Democritus is a greek philosopher. His theory was that everything is made of up of atoms. He also stated that atoms cannot be seperated into parts and can never be broken down into pieces. He also said that there are space in between the atoms and that the more space there are in the atom the heavier it gets. His atomic model is a sphere that cannot be seen.
  • Dalton's Atomic Theory

    Dalton's Atomic Theory
Dalton's Theory was based on the previous statements by Democritus. His theory was based on ideas like all matter is composed of atoms, atoms cannot be destroyed or created, all atoms of the same elements are identical, different elements have different types of atoms, when attoms are rearranged chemical reactions occur and compounds are formed of atoms of the larger elements. With his theory, his system of atomic weights was not accurate.
  • Periodic Table

    Periodic Table
    D. I. Mendeleyev, Russian chemist, developed the periodic law of the properties of the chemical elements.
  • Eugen Goldstein

    Eugen Goldstein
He discovered that atoms had positive charges.
  • J. J. Thomson

    J. J. Thomson
Thomson suggested that atoms were not "indivisble" like Dalton said but they contained smaller pieces. Thomson noted an electron when he conducted his experiement using the cathode ray tube.
  • Thomson's Plum Pudding Model

    Thomson's Plum Pudding Model
The atom is composed of electrons surrounded by postive charge to balance the electron's negative charges, like negatively charged "plums" surrounded by positively charged "pudding".
  • Rutherford's Atomic Model

    Rutherford's Atomic Model
Rutherford proved Thomson's "Plum Pudding Model" wrong. performed a series of experiments with radioactive alpha particles which concluded him to create the planetary model of the atom which put all the protons in the nucleus and the electrons orbited around the nucleus like how the planets orbit the sun.
  • Neil Bohr's Theory

    Neil Bohr's Theory
Bohr applied the quantum theory to Rutherford's atomic theory which made him assume that travel in stationed orbits. He states that electrons orbit the nucleus in orbits that have a set size and energy.
  • Erwin Schrödinger's Electron Cloud Model

    Erwin Schrödinger's Electron Cloud Model
He developed the probability function which basically describes a cloudlike region where the electron is likely to be found. The electron cloud model is an atom model in which electrons are no longer portrayed as particles shifting in the region of the center of the atom in an unchanging orbit
  • NUCLEAR BOMB!!!

    NUCLEAR BOMB!!!
A nuclear weapon is an explosive device that derives its destructive force from nuclear reactions, either fission or a combination of fission and fusion There are two types of nuclear bomb/weapon which are atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb.
  • James Chadwick

    James Chadwick
Chadwick discovered a third type of subatomic particle, which he named the neutron.
  • Atomic Bombing of Hirsoshima and Nagasaki

Atomic Bombing of Hirsoshima and Nagasaki
The atomic bombings of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan were conducted by the United States during the final stages of World War II in 1945. These two events represent the only use of nuclear weapons in war to date.
