Andrei Sakharov, a Russian nuclear physicist, Nobel laureate, and activist for disarmament, peace and human rights, was born on the 21st of May in Moscow.

After graduating from Moscow State University he started his work in physics. By the age of 32 he was one of the world's most famous scientists who lived in Russia.
