In 1770, a fight broke out between a mob of Americans and British Soldiers. The soldiers fired into the crowed and five colonists were killed.

British responded by closing Boston Habor, sending British troops and quartering (housing) them in American homes, and closing down the Massachusetts goverment . Colonist called these the Intolerable acts.
