In 1917, he did nursing training for the Red Cross in Ontario, Canada, to assist in the treatment of wounded soldiers of World War I.

His first flight experience was in Long Beach, when he began the course with Professor Anita in 1921. He flew at an altitude of 14,000 feet. She was the 16th woman to obtain a flight license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

In 1925, he moved to Boston. He was part of the National Association of Aeronautics. The Boston Globe considered her one of the best pilots in the United States.

In 1928, New York publisher George Putnam organized a voyage around the Atlantic Ocean for Earhart to be the first woman to do the feat, even as a transient. In 1932, she would fly by herself.

In 1935, Earhart, flew around the world alone, but did not realize the adventure. He tried again in 1937, when he left Costa Rica, traveled through South America to Africa, from where he left for Australia, when he had flown some 22,000 miles (35,420 km). He made his last contact on July 2, 1937, and his body and traces of the plane were never found again, although the American government sent 66 planes and 9 ships for his search.
