In Eriksons sixth stage of development, intimacy vs. isolation, the crisis is between forming intimate relationships with others and being committed (intimacy) or choosing to be by yourself and not get close to others (isolation).

Hamilton (age 46) has an eight child by his wife Elizabeth named Philip. Hamilton continues to have children to continue his name and legacy after he passes (which is two years later unfortunately). In Eriksons seventh stage of development, the crisis, generativity vs. stagnation, is between creating and nurturing something that will outlive them (generativity) or failing to find a way to contribute to the world (stagnation).
