    Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11th, 1757 (It is not known for sure whether or not Hamilton was born in 1555, or 1557) on an island in the Caribbean.

    Alexander's mother died from illness in February of 1768, leaving him an orphan at the age of eleven. Hamilton also had the illness his mother had, but he got better.

    Wanted a better life for himself, Hamilton arrived in New York City in 1776 at just the age of sixteen. He enrolled to Kings College, wanted to follow in Aaron Burr's footsteps and graduate early. Hamilton later left college before graduating to get involved more with politics. Hamilton left "to join forces with the Patriots in their protest of British-imposed taxes and commercial business regulations."

    Hamilton and Eliza Married at the Schuyler Mansion on December 14th, 1780. They first met when Hamilton came to visit Philip Schuyler. During their marriage the couple had eight children.

    During the five years Hamilton served as Washington's Chief of Staff, he yearned for battlefield glory. Finally, During the battle of Yorktown, Washington let Hamilton lead attack on "British defenses" on Redoubt no. 10, which he and his troops successfully invaded. Yorktown was the last major battle in the Revolutionary War, which led to the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Hamilton is known as a "hero for his part in The Battle of Yorktown" and helping end the Revolutionary War.

    When George Washington was elected President in 1789 he appointed Hamilton as our nations first Secretary of The Treasury. He served as Secretary of the Treasury until 1795. by the time Hamilton stepped down we had a secure economy and a "strengthened federal government."

    While serving as Secretary of Treasury, Hamilton helped establish the First National Bank. Hamilton supported the idea of banks all the way back in 1980. Hamilton believed we needed banks to "provide credit and stabilize the economy."
  • Philip Hamilton's Death

    Alexander Hamilton's eldest son Philip challenged George I Eacker to a duel after he talked bad about his father and their family.The two men duel in Weehawkin, New Jersey, since it was "illegal to battle in New York." Eacker shot Hamilton on the second day of the duel and Philip Hamilton died a day later on November 24th,1820. Philip's death left Alexander and the Hamilton family devastated.

    July 11th, 1804 Hamilton and Burr dueled at the same battle ground Hamilton's son Philip died at just a few years before him. due to Hamilton's backing of Jefferson in the election of 1800 Burr was infuriated that Hamilton has cost him the election. The two had a long history, but when the guns were drawn Hamilton shot his up in the air while Burr fired straight towards Hamilton, fatally wounding him.
