  • 13th Amendment

    13th Amendment is passed which abolishes slavery
  • 15th Amendment

    The 15th Amendment is passed which states that any U.S. citizen can vote no matter their race, color, or previous history of being a slave
  • Segregation for Blacks and Whites

    1885 is around the time when segragation was big in terms of spereate facitlities, school, and hospitals,
  • Plessy vs. Furgeson

    The Court said that Blacks and Whites could be seperated, but the conditions must be the same for each side.
  • Black and Whites Seperated More

    At this time, it was said that Blacks and Whites would be seperate on railroads, depots, hotels, theaters, resturants, barber shops, and many other establishments.
  • Du Bois' book, Souls of Black Folks is Released

    This book spoke strongly against Booker Washington support towards public education which Du Bois thought was narrow and economy-focused.
  • NAACP is Formed

    In 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was formed.
  • More Blacks Start to Move North

    Starting in the 1920s, many Blacks started to move north because of the fact that it was simply better and more fair for any race in the north than in the south.
