    The Japanese General ordered that the city of Nanking be destoryed. The city was burned and troops made a campaign that enforced cruel acts against people who are not in any armed services. 50,000 males raped at least 20,000 women and girls of all ages. Many women and girls were killed in the process. After the events, the Japanes general was found guilty of war crimes.

    The United States became the first and only nation to use atomic weapons during wartime. In 1940, President S. Truman was warned that any attempt to invade Japan would end in a bad case caused by the Americans. On August 6, 1945, the American bomber, Enola Gay, dropped a five-ton bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. It killed 80,000 people and the next week, ten thousand people died from wounds and radiation posioning. A few days later another bomb was dropped and Japan finally gave up.
