Three ships containg 104 men and boys landed on Jamestown Island to begin a new colony. -

Albany Plan of Union
It proposed that humble application be made for an act of Parliment of Great Britain. It states only one general government may be formed in America. -
Stamp Act
The new tax was imposed on all American colonist and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. The money was used to help pay the cost of defending and protecting the American frontier. -
Boston Massacure
A group of Boston Townspeople harrased a group of British soliders, which lead to the soilders shooting and killing 5 townspeople. -
Boston Tea Party
This was a direct attack against the british government by colonist in Boston after officials in Boston refused to return 3 shiploads of taxed tea to Britain. The colonist boarded the ship and destroyed the tea by throwing it all in the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
Fire laws passed by the British Parliment in 1774. The acts outrages the 13 colonies, but were very important developments in the growth of the American Revolution. -
First Continental Congress
Brought together representatvies rom each of the colonies, expect Georgia, to discuss thier response to the British "Intolerable Acts." -

Second Continental Congress
The delegates of the 13 colonies gathered in Philadelphia to discuss their next steps. They established the militia as the Continental Army to represent the 13 states. -

Written by Jefferson and adopted by the Second Continental Congress. It stated the reason the British colonies of North America sought independence , which the main reasons wre for equality , liberty,and freedom. -

Farmers petitioned the state sente to issue paper money and to halt forclosure of mortages on their property and their own imprisonment for debt as a result of high land taxes. -
Philadelphia Convention
Also known as the Constitutional Convention, it took place to discuss issues in the US following independence from Great Britian. A new government was created where they elected George Washington to preside over the convention. As a result, the US constition was established. -
Constitutional Convection
