    The Space Race

    The Space Race was a conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union. This was to see who could land a man on the moon first. This correlates to the Cold War because it was when the US and Soviet Union were still hitting heads, the US used this as leverage to show that we were powerful by launching a man onto the moon.   • Unifying Organizations

    Unifying Organizations

    OPEC, founded in 1961 sets specific prices on oil excavation and influences the world economy majorly.. It is one of the most impactful and influential organizations in the world.
    Countries Involved:
    Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela
    Cold War: This had effects on the cold war because this meant that they set price for oil was not negotiable, this meant that for things like fuel the price was higher causing an increase with the economy.

  • Berlin Crisis

    Berlin Crisis

    As the USSR had control over eastern Germany, the USSR demanded that western troops were to be removed from eastern Germany, and the west refused. This was to block out the west from coming over into easter germany and to also stop people from fleeing eastern Germany. This Contributes to the cold war because it showed that people were embarrassed to be living within Soviet Control and and wanted to flee, this caused more tension between all the nations and the Soviets.

    Korean DMZ Conflict

    In 1966 Korean DMZ Conflict started. The Korean DMZ was a demilitarized zone in which both Koreas could hold negotiations. Although, North Korea stepped up its involvement and sent troops over the DMZ and invaded South Korea.
    Cold War:
    On January 23rd, North Korea had captured the USS Pueblo and had held the American Crew for 11 Months hostage. North Korea had argued that the ship had crossed into North Korean waters but the US said that it was still international.

  • President Nixon Befriends China

    President Nixon Befriends China

    In 72' President Nixon had gone to the People's Republic of China to visit President Mao of China. This formed a friendship between us and China allowing world economic trade to commence between the two. This was because both Nixon and Mao saw trade opportunities between us.
    Cold War: During the 70s China was unstable with North Vietnam and the Soviet Union, now that South Vietnam was considered communist because of the Soviet takeover, Nixon saw a befriending opportunity.
