    This was a pact or treaty signed to give mutual defense and military aid to Europe with East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, and the Soviet Union.
  • Space Dog

    USSR Sputnik II carried Laika the dog, the first living creature to go into space.
  • Broadcast from Space

    The 1st radio broadcast came from space as US President Dwight D. Eisenhower sent the Christmas message "to all mankind, America's wish for peace on Earth and goodwill to men everywhere"

    The Berlin Wall was built along with borders that sealed East and West Germany.
  • JFK Assassination

    John F. Kennedy was assassinated while on a visit to Dallas. Lee Harvey Oswald was later arrested for the murder but there has always been speculation that he was not the only one that had it out for JFK.

  • Space Race

    US Apollo 11 landed on the Moon with Neil Armstrong as the first man on the Moon.
  • Treaty for the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

    The US, Great Britain, Soviet Union, and forty-five other nations sign the Treaty for the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons which agreed with other states not to assist or produce nuclear weapons. This did not take launch until 1970.
  • Four Power Agreement

    The Four Power Agreement was rights made between Russia, USA, Britain and France reconfirmed responsibilities of those countries with regard to Berlin.
  • SALT

    Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty signed between the US and USSR to agree between the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and the Interim Agreement on the Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms.
  • Vietnam

    North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam. The capture of Saigon by the North Vietnamese led to the whole country becoming Communist and the South Vietnamese left to surrender.
