    I Love Lucy was arguably one of the most successful TV shows ever. It starred Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. It was a sitcom based on the life of Lucy and aired on CBS. During its 6 seasons of being on television, I Love Lucy won 5 Emmys and was nominated for numerous other awards. In 2012, it was voted the Best TV Show of All Time by People Magazine.
  • Singin in the Rain

    "Singin in the Rain" a musical comedy starring Gene Kelly hit theatres across the US and became a huge success. It was nominated for 7 awards, including 2 Oscars and won 5/7. It had a $2 million budget and brought in $7.5 million at the box office.

The first color television broadcast occured on January 1, 1954 during the Tournament of Roses parade. The first color sets sold for around $1000. You could even rent them for $200 for the first month and $75 per month from then on.

    The themepark, Disneyland, opens in Anaheim, California. Walt Disney's father, who had worked at numerous fairs and parks had encouraged his son to create the iconic park. Later, this park would stem the idea to create Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Both are still incredibly popular amusement parks today.

    Vertigo was released in 1958. Written ny Alec Coppel and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. this movie was nominated for 2 Oscars. It starred James Stewart and Kim Novak. This movie tells the story of a retired San Francisco detective who suffers frim acrophobia (a fear of heights). He begins investigating the strange actions of an old friend's wife, and slowly becomes infatuated with her.
