  • Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway was a major naval battle between Japan and the United States during WWII. This was six months after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. On June 4th, Japanese carriers damaged the US base on Midway. Ended with the first significant Japanese defeat.
  • Executive Order 9066

    Executive Order 9066 was an order from President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II. This authorized the Secretary of War to prescribe certain areas of military zones. This also made Japanese Americans go to internment camps since Americans were threatened by the Japanese after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.
  • D-Day

    156,000 soldiers for the United States, British, and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along the coast of Normandy, France. This was an attack after misleading the Germans into the wrong target. This secured Germany's loss in World War II.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt

    Roosevelt wins presidency but sadly dies from a heart attack, so Harry Truman is sworn in as the new president.
  • Bombings in Japanese Cities

    The United States detonated two nuclear weapons in Hiroshima and Nagasaki after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor. The United States warned the Japanese leader of these attacks, but he did nothing, so America went through with its threat. This ultimately killed hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens.
  • Truman Doctrine

    The Truman Doctrine was a policy where the United States would provide political, economic, and military assistance to all democratic nations under threat of communism or other threats. This was at the beginning of the Cold War when the Soviet Union was trying to expand communism.
  • Babe Ruth

    The legendary baseball player, Babe Ruth, dies as 53 years old from cancer. He was known as the best baseball player to ever live.
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower

    After his heroics by helping win World War II, Eisenhower was elected President of the United States in 1952.
