    From September 3, 1939 til May 8, 1945 The Battle of Atlantic was going on. This was a battle between the Western Allies and Axis powers.
  • Rushmore Mountain

    The Rushmore Mountain was completed in 1941 by the direct of Gutzon and his son Lincoln. It stands about 60 feet tall. And has the presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Every year nearly 3 million people visit.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Before it came Hawaii it was just a U.S territory. Which is where the bombing of Pearl Harbor took place. It destroyed/damaged nearly 20 American Naval Vessels. Over 2,400 Americans died. And 1,000 injured. The day after this, FDR declared war on Japan.

    Coral Sea was a battle between the Japanese Navy and Navel. And the Air forces in the United States and Australia. May 8 1942 the Japanese won the battle. This battle is also known for being the first air/sea battle.

    From June 4 til June 7 1942 th battle of Midway broke out. The Japanese wanted to seize Midway. As they have planned for a long time. This battle took place 6 months after Pearl Harbor. And 1 month after the Coral Sea.

    There were multiple operations. Operation Avalanche, Baytown, and Slapstick. It took place in Salerno, Calabria, and Toranto, Italy. 2,009 killed, 7,050 wounded, and 3,501 missing.
  • D-Day

    Dwight D. Eisenhower had selected June 5, 1944 as the day to do it. But weather had delayed it til the next day. 4,000 Allied troops lost their lives that day. And 1,000 were either injured or missing. Also more then 150,000 invaders died.

    On December 15, 1944 Glenn Miller disappeared on his way to sing to the Allied troops. Glenn was a musician in the time of swing music her was the lead of a band called Glenn Millers Orchastra. He was a best seller from 1939 til the time he disappeared.

    In 1947 the first ever Ferrari sports car was made by Gioaccnino Colombo. It was the V12 125s. The top speed was 210 km/h, and weighed 650 kg. The fuel tank capacity was 72 liters. It ran the Piaceza Circut. And won 6 out of the 13 races it ran.
