    The French needed money for the war they were having with England. The Louisana Purchase territory stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains.

    Lewis and Clark went on an expedition to explore the west and find a route to the Pacific Ocean. Lewis and Clark hired Carboneau and Sacagawea to guide them westward. Sacagawea was a Shoshone Indian. She helped Lewis and Clark on their journey!

    The Indian Removal Act
    The U.S government made a law which was called The Indian Removal Act in 1830. In 1830 the government made the Indians move off their land and go to a reservation that they set aside for their use. Most Indian tribes didn’t want to leave their home but the government sent in the Army to force the Indians tribes to move.

    The Alamo was the scene of an important battle in the fight for the independence of Texas from Mexico. In the early 1800's Texas belonged to Mexico. The Alamo is where a fight happened between Mexico and Texas. Mexico won the fight, but Texas won the war.
