After a legendary wimbeldon final against Nadal that year, it appears as though roger feder is losing everything. However he manages to win against murray in the US Open and changes tides.

Finally, the the table had been set for Roger Federer to tie Pete Sampras's record 14 Grand Slams. With Nadal, Federer's number 1 rival, out of the tournament due to injuries, Federer's path was clear. No major obstacles stood in his way as he easily attained his Grand Slam Title. This was an epic moment in tennis history and Federer fell to his knees crying after winning.

Having 14 Grand Slams there were many that disputed that Federer was tied with Sampras as the best player to ever live. However, defeating Andy Roddick in the Wimbeldon final of 2009, appeased any doubt that Federer was indeed the greatest. Federer had managed to attain 15 grand slam titles.

This is Roger Federer's Final title. The prior three titles that he won were due to Rafal Nadal's absence, which Federer capitalized on. However, when Nadal returns, Federer once again becomes number 2.
