five Japanese “Ko-hyoteki-class” midget submarines entered Australian waters with the intention of attacking Allied warships in Sydney Harbour. Each midget submarine had a crew of two people and had to maneuver through the slightly constructed anti-submarine net. One submarine got tangled in the net stretched out across the harbor, so her occupants blew her up and committed suicide -

Japanese forces landed on Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea attempting to attack the Australian and American Allies. At first, the Japanese advanced from East to West throughout the land without very many casualties.
