    Charter that was forced apon King John by his barons. Stated that the power of the monarch was not absolute and guaranteed trial by jury.
  • Jamestown

    Settled by the London Company and run by John Smith. It was a disaster at first with people starving and dieing of malaria.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    A compact written by Pilgrams while on the Mayflower. It centered on majority rule and based on their religion.
  • Petition of Right

    Petition of Right
    A document Signed by King Charles I of England. It challenged divine right and the the monarch must obay the laws of the land.
  • English Bill of Rights

    Document written and agreed on by William and Mary of England. Designed to prevent the abuse of power by the monarchs.

    Plan proposed by Benjamin Franklin aimed to unite the 13 colonies. IT was turned down by the colonies and the crown.
