    This war began when British declared war against Germany and ended in May 1945 when Germany surrendered. Battle of the Atlantic was one of the major fronts during the war that took place on the Atlantic over control of the Atlantic. The Battle of Atlantic had a major impact on the Allies because they never would have won WWII without this battle.

  • German Blitzkrieg

    German Blitzkrieg
    A Blitzkrieg is a military strategy that the Germany used throughout World War II. One example of it was when Germany conducted a violent surprise attack on Poland giving Poland a small chance of fighting back successfully. These surprise attacks were triggered disorganization of the enemy making it easier to beat them. This strategy was very successful and Germany continued to use it throughout the war.

  • Fall of Paris

    Germany invaded Paris, France because they wanted to expand their territory, gain control and show their power. This event allowed Germany to expand and weakened the French. This event majorly impacted France because it got separated into two areas half of which controlled by Germany only leaving half for French sovereignty.

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Stoped the German advancement into Soviet Union and was a turning point fo the Allies. This was one of the longest and bloodiest wars of all time. The war ended on February 1943. Germany attempted to invade the Soviet Union however Stalins forces held strong and they didn't break through. This battle had lasting effects. There were many causalities and death on both sides.

    Battle of Midway
    The United States defeated Japanese threaten the Pacific with this battle. This battle was fought mainly in the air. Japan tried to attack midway because it was the closest US base to Japan. US won and it stopped the Japan empire from expanding.

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    The War of Normandy started in June 1944 and lasted until August 1944. D- Day was the day that the American, British and Canadian forces landed on the beaches. The Allies were successful and conquered the beaches and liberated Paris and Germany was removed. This war effected the Nazis psychologically. It turned more people against them. It allowed for the Nazis to surrender later in the spring.

    Potsdam Declaration
    This declaration was the ultimatum that the US, Great Britain and China put out for surrender of Japan. It was made at Potsdam conference at the end of WWII. This declaration defined the terms of Japans surrender and threatened them if they decided not to surrender.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The United States marine attacked the island of Iwo Jima on the struggled to gain control. Through many causalities the Americans won the battle and beat Japan. This happened because the United States was trying to gain control over this island because it gave Japan war advantages. This was a major win for the United States because this area was critical for defense of the mainland. This battle ended March 26, 1945.
