    Munich Agreement
    The Munich Agreement was a settlement between Germany, Great Britian, France, and Italy. This agreement allowed Germany to take over the Sudentland in Czechoslavakia. Germany wanted this for more land so that Hitler could create his perfect Aryan race. Hitler also wanted this land because it was home to 3 million Germans that originated from Germany.

    Hitler Captures Czechoslovakia
    Hitler gaining Czechoslovakia put 3 million Germans in his hands along with many major natural resources that were crucial for Czech, like coal, iron, steel, and electrical power. With these in Hitler's hands, Hitler had complete control over Czech and would slowly take over and rule this land. Even though Czech tried to keep Hitler happy, he always wanted more and he received everything he asked for. He eventually even got Slovakia to give their independence to Hitler,

    Nazi-Soviet Nonagression Pact
    This was a pact between Hitler, of Germany, and Stalin, of the Soviets, that promised there to be no war or fights between Germany and the Soviet Union for 10 years. Joseph Stalin thought this pact would be useful to stay on good terms with Germany so at the same time, he could strengthen his military. Adolf Hitler thought this pact would be useful so that Germany could attack Poland without having to fight another country. This was also an agreement that they would split up Eastern Europe.

    Germany used a blitzkrieg, or lightning war, which was a fast and efficient way to attack on Poland. This involved panzer divisions, which is 300 tanks that are in columsn that were protected by planes and had food and supplies behind them. This allowed Germany to make a fast breakthrough Poland and so they surrendered after 4 weeks. After this, Germany and the Soviet Union split Poland.
  • Signing of the Tripartite Pact

    Signing of the Tripartite Pact
    The three Axis Powers, Italy, Germany, and Japan, were unified by the signing of the Tripartite Pact. This pact would provide help to the other nation if one of the nations was attacked by a nation that wasn't already participating in the war. This part of the pact was mainly directed to the US since they were neutral so that they would really think about attacking one of the Axis Powers and joinging WWII.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japanese airplanes made a surprise attack on the Hawaiin Islands targeting the US naval bases located in Pearl Harbor. This was a very damaging attack that had a huge impact on all Americans. The Japanese were able to destroy 20 naval vessels, 8 battleships, and nearly 200 airplanes. Over 2,000 Americans died that day and over 1,000 were wounded. This attack completely changed Americans view for the war.

    US Enters the WarThe US entering the war created the well-known Grand Alliance. This was formed by Great Britian, the US, and the Soviet Union. The US entered the war after Pearl Harbor because now Americans were finally ready to be involved in this war. FDR made a ten minute speech on this day and after a thundering applaud and one hour, FDR had his declaration for war.
  • Tehran Conference

    Tehran Conference
    The Big Three, Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill, which were the leaders of the Grand Alliance. They met at Tehran so that they could make a decision on where WWII would go. This conference was mainly to decide the concluding "assualt on Germany". FDR and Stalin also argued about an attack on France that would be from the American-British.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    This was considered the greatest Naval incastion in WWII. The Allied forces went through many obstacles like underwater mines, barbed wire, and a machine gun attack to get to Normany becahes. This was led by Dwight D. Eisenhoewer. This was a hard attack because there was a strong German army ready to fight. In 3 months the Allied forces had 2 million men and 500,000 million vehicles on Normandy beaches. The Allies received victory by breaking through the German lines.

    VE Day
    Great Britain and the US both celebrate Victory In Europe Day. They both defeated the German army on this day. The thing that German soliders were most afraid of was being taken as a prisoner. Many tried to kill themselves so that they wouldn't have to be taken prisoner but the Russians stopped them and took them as prisoners.
  • Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima

    Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima
    President Harry Truman of the US was tired of dealing with so many losses of American soldiers from invading Japan. The US was the first to use nuclear weapons in war. This bombing made a huge impact on Japan by killing 80,000 people and more people dying in the next few weeks due to radiation. Even though this was tragic, the Japan emperor wouldn't surrender so 3 days later the US dropped another atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan.
  • End of WWII

    End of WWII
    On this day, the Japanese officially sign the surrender paper. WWII resulted in about 6 million people killed in Nazi concentration camps and about 16 million American served in WWII. There is around 73,661 Americans that are missing in actiion from WWII. WWII lasted about 6 years from the time it began to the time it officially ended.
