The United States experienced enormous unemployment, low wages, lots of government involvement, and raised tariffs. It also affected other countries like Germany because the United States was a prime source to them.

    The League of Nations was an international organization that was supposed to settle disputes between countries and keep peace, but many countries were withdrawing from the league that weakened it and caused it to fail.
  • Hitler becomes chancellor

    Hitler becomes chancellor
    After Hitler lost the election against Paul Von Hindenburg, Hitler tried to find some other way to rise to power and rule Germany. He convinced President Von Hindenburg to name him chancellor and use the enabling act that allowed Hitler to pass any law he wanted.
  • Rape of Nanjing

    Rape of Nanjing
    Japanese invaded the Chinese city of Nanjing and brutally murdered thousands of civilians and soldiers as well as raping thousands of women and girls. The Japanese army left the city in pieces that would take years for Nanjing to repair.

    Hitler was a main ruler at this time in Germany and wanted to take air control to attack Britain that caused losses to British Royal air force. Britain responded with bombing Berlin to bring fear to Germany that then led to Hitler bombing several British cities. The Royal air force in Britain was able to rebuild and Hitler then decides to surrender his invasion.

    Japan was trying to force the United States into WWII and bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The attack was very unexpected and caused 2,400 deaths.

    Hitler created the Holocaust where he wanted to execute anyone who wasn't the perfect person in his eyes, like Jews, homosexuals, disabled people, the mentally ill, etc. Concentration and execution camps were set up all over Germany that killed people or worked them to death. Over 6 million Jews were killed along with non-Jews.

    The battle of the Midway was a battle fought entirely by aircraft between the United States and Japan in response to Japan's Pearl Harbor attack. The United States destroyed four Japanese aircraft carriers and defeated Japan.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The turning point that led to WWII, the Soviets and Germans battled at Stalingrad where the USSR surrounded the Germans that cut off their supplies. It is known as one of the deadliest battles with 250,000 German deaths and 1.1 million Soviet deaths.

    The Allies invade Normandy to create a second front and force Germany towards Paris while moving over a million men across the English channel. This all resulted to Nazi Germany's defeat and victory for the Allies.
  • Yalta conference

    One of the end of war conferences was the Yalta conference to re-establish nations. Stalin wanted a buffer of communist states, FDR wanted self determination, and split Germany into four different sections. The United Nations was also created during this conference that is still an international organization today.

    The Allied forces demanded Germany to surrender from WWII after Hitler committed suicide and Mussolini was killed that left Germany with no other choice but to surrender.

    The Nuremberg trials were trials held for crimes committed during WWII and the Holocaust where 22 Nazis were tried under several pieces of evidence of the Holocaust.
