Germany invaded Poland over the border and took over their army and, due to a pact between Britain, France, and Poland, Britain and Frane declared war on Germany, thus beginning WWII. -

A battle in Europe between the Allies and Germany that resulted in the complete evactuation of British troops in the area, which was referred to as a miracle by Winston Churchill. -

Bataan Death March
When Japanese soldiers took over the Philippines, the Americn troops were forced to retreat to Bantaan Peninsula, where they were captured by the Japanese and forced to go on a 65 mile march to prison camps. They were treated very poorly and the march resulted in the killing of thousands of troops and citizens. -
Battle of Midway
Naval battle between the United States and Japan, in which the U.S. effectively destroyed Japa's naval forces. -
D-Day
The storming of the beach in Normandy, France, which resulted in the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany's Control. -
Battle of the Bulge
This battle was an attempt by Hitler to break apart the allied forces in the Ardennes. It resulted in the battle with the greatest number of American casualties throughout the entire war. -
Yalta Conference
A conference between Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin, in which they discussed what would happen when the war ended and how the postwar world would be. -

The day that victory was declared for the United States over Europe. -
The Bombing of Hiroshima
The dropping of an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, done to destroy their military and speed up their surrender. -

The day during which victoy was declared for the US over Japan.
