    German and Soviet forces fought many large battles, but the Battle in the city of Stalingrad was the most crucial and most bloody and horrific battles in WWII. The Germans pushed Soviet forces back past the Volga River, however the Russians flanked the weaker German allies and then Soviet forces almost completely fully encompased the Germans. Then,, after more than 5 moths of fighting, Soviet forces broked down the Germans to retake Stalingrad

    After the successful holding of the Axis attacks, the Second Battle of El Alamein was served to repel the Axis forces out of North Africa. Allied forces eventually overran the Axis forces, driving them out of Egypt and giving the allies a much needed morale boost and shift of momentum.

Though the allies suffered heavy losses they were successful in driving the Axis Powers back.
