    Germany using their Blitzkrieg tactics, launch an invasion on Poland. Polish military was nowhere near prepared for such an attack. Efforts to negotiate with Germany failed, France and Britain declare war on Germany. World War 2 begins
  • Germans Enter Paris

    Germans Enter Paris
    Germany captures Paris and they surrender to the Nazi Party. Winston Churchill tried persuading the French Government to hang on and hold their ground, the United States would be sending aid over to them. It ended up being too late as the Germans took over with ease.
  • Battle of Britain

    Battle of Britain
    In the Summer and Fall of 1940, Britain and German air forces took to the sky to fight. It was a huge turning point in WW2, as Germany failed to gain Air superiority over Britain even though they scouted them and became familiar with their opponents very well. Winning that battle proved they could win a major battle with just air power.

    This act allowed the United States to aid the countries that were important to the United States' safety. They would send over war materials The Lend Lease Act brought the United States one step closer to entering World War 2.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Around 8 a.m. Japanese fighter plans bombed Pearl Harbor, the American naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii. The attack was devastating with 20 ships destroyed, 300 planes, 2,000 soldiers and sailors were killed and 1,000 were wounded. This was the final straw for the United States as they declared war on Japan a day after.

    The sweet victory by the Soviets in this battle was another turning point in favor of the allies. The 6 month long battle is considered to be the greatest battle of the whole entire war. Germany began to retreat from the Eastern Front after this battle. Hundreds of thousands of German and Russian lives were lost in this battle.

    156,000 Americans, Candiens, and British Forces cover a 50 mile stretch along France's Coast of Normandy. Less than a week later 326,000 troops, more than 50,000 vehicles and some 100,000 tons of equipment had landed at Normandy.
    This attack today is still one of the most lethal land and water attacks to this day.

    The Battle of the Bulge
    Adolph Hitler attempted to split the Allied armies in northwest Europe by a blitzkrieg attack through the Ardennes to Antwerp. The Americans were caught off guard and were forced to attempt to stem the German soldiers. Short of fuel and gallantry the Germans were not able to win or atleast tie with the Americans. The Battle of the Bulge was the costliest action ever fought by the U.S. Army, which suffered over 100,000 casualties.

    The Yalta Conference was the second wartime meeting of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin and U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt. They agreed to accept Germany's surrender and they began making plans for after the war.

    HItler kills himself in bunker after being Berlin. He marries his wife before poisoning her and then killing himself. His body was never found and this was basically the end of the war.
