• Invasion of Manchuria

    The Manchurian Railway was controlled by the Japanese throughout the 1930´s . The Japanese stated that the Chinese ruined the Railway in September on 1931, the Japanese responded to this by attacking the Chinese and conquered Manchuria. A meeting happened later on where nations voted that Japan should withdraw but instead Japan walked out of the League. Japan invaded China later on and the League of nations did not do anything about it since they did not want Japan to declare war.

    Rape of Nanjing

    The Japanese Army were ordered to destroy the city of Nanjing because they wanted to break the spirit of Chinese resistance. Japanese Army forces murdered many people and many women were sexually assaulted and much of the building were burned down in the Chinese city of Nanjing. A puppet government was added when the killings continued and so the puppet government took over Nanjing until the end of World War 2
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht was also known as ¨Night Of The Broken Glass¨, on this night Nazi mobs attacked Jews in their homes and on the streets and destroyed thousands of Jewish owned buildings. This started the process of eliminating Jews from German life, after this event, conditions for Jews got worse. Hitler and the Nazis started the holocaust in World War 2 from the murder of 6 million European Jews.
  • Munich Pact

    The Munich pact was an agreement to give Sudetenland to Hitler. The agreement stated the beginning of the outbreak of war but Czechoslovakia was given away to German conquest because Hitlers plan for a ¨greater Germany¨ involved the conquest of Czechoslovakia. Hitler wanted German speaking people to live in the Sudeten region of Czechoslovakia so that they would be closer to Germany.

    This was the union between Austria-Hungary and Germany. Hitler was doing this because people who spoke Germany were living in Austria so his plan was to unite them together . This impacted World War 2 because it was not allowed on the Treaty of Versailles.
  • Invasion of Poland

    When German troops invaded Poland, that was a trigger of starting World War 2. Hitler was seeking for a way to get back the territory that was lost and wanted to rule Poland. Great Britain and France responded to this by declaring war on Nazi Germany. The remainder of Poland was taken over by Nazi Germany until 1945.

    Non-Aggression pact

    The non-aggression pact was an agreement between Germany and the Soviet Union to not attack each other. This pact was signed a little before World war 2 broke out in Europe. It a way for Stalin to have time to build up the Soviet military while being on good terms with Germany.
  • Evacuation of Dunkirk

    British Expeditionary forces and other allied troops from the French seaport of Dunkirk evacuated to England in World War 2. The evacuation ended on June 4 and many British, French, and Belgian troops were saved. Although some troops were saved, there were some people that had been left and were mistreated by the Germans.
  • Tri-Partite Agreement

    An agreement for both at home and in the international exchange markets between France, Great Britain and the United States. The agreement was made because Great Britain and the United states got rid of the gold standard for their currencies abut while this was happening, France was still using the gold standard.This was important to WW2 because it was created to discourage the United States to enter the conflict.
  • Lend Lease Act

    A compromise for foreign nations to have access to U.S military aid during World War 2. This act set up a system that would allow any nation that seemed ¨Vital to the defenses of the United States¨ to have a chance for the United States to lend or lease war supplies, this act also brought the United States closer and closer into entering the war.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    This was a code name for the German invasion of the soviet Union during World War 2. The invasion was very effective and cause Germany´s combat to be stronger. Barbarossa was the turning point of World War 2, it caused the Nazi Germany had to fight a two-front war because of this events failures.
  • Pearl Harbor

    A surprise attack on the US Naval base Pearl Harbor launched by the Japanese . The attack destroyed much of the American Pacific fleet. President Franklin D. Roosevelt told his citizens that this attack happened because they wanted to keep peace with Japan, this event was important because on December 8th, America entered World War 2.
  • Battle of Midway

    The bombing of Pearl Harbor started the Battle of midway and was a naval battle involving only aircraft. This was a turning point in the pacific theater during World war 2 because America´s victory caused them to end the threat of further Japanese invasion in the Pacific.

    D-day was known as the battle of Normandy, it was a battle that ended up in the Allied liberation of western Europe from Nazi Germany´s control. It was the turning point for World War two when German forces were attacked on the coast of Normandy France by Allied forces of America, Canada, Britain, and France.

    Liberation of Paris

    A military battle that took place during World war 2. The battle for Paris and Belgium was a way to describe the liberation of Paris. The significance of this event was that Paris was freed from German control. The French resistance fighters fought for the prisoners in Paris and helped to free them.
  • Battle of the bulge

    This battle was intended to split the allied armies with blitzkrieg, this was another attack on the allied powers. This event impacted World War 2 because it ruined the German army later on
  • Hitler´s suicide

    When the tide of war turned against Hitler, Hitler was warned by his officers that the Russians were on their way and that it would only take them a day or two to take the chancellery. They wanted him to escape to a small town in Berchtesgarden called Bavarian. Instead, he chose to commit suicide by taking cyanide and then shooting himself.
  • Surrender of Germany

    This event was important because European conflicts in World War 2 ended when Germany surrendered. The Germans were aware of what they caused and surrendered because Soviets were after the German capital of Berlin from the east and the Western Allies were after it from the west.
  • Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    The world´s first deployed atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, a Japanese city. Many people were killed during this explosion. Later on, another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. The country then surrendered in World War 2.
