    1939 - Hitler Invasion of Poland
    On the first of September 1939, Hitler ordered his troops to advance into Poland and invade their land. They invaded alongside Slovak troops from all directions, therefore the polish was forced to retreat inland. On September 17, the Soviet army also invaded Poland, increasing pressure on polish defenses. The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and seizing the whole of Poland.

But to the world's surprise, on May 10th, Germany unleashed their army and invaded Belgium.

The significance of this evacuation is the amount of allied soldiers that were saved, many still able to fight and also the fact that this contributed to hitler's ego and arrogance, making him think that the german forces are unstoppable.

    The evacuation of dunkirk was the evacuation of allied soldiers from the beaches of dunkirk between the 26th of may and the 4th of june 1940. The evacuation was required after hundreds of thousands of allied soldiers became surrounded by german troops during the battle of france. A multitude of small civilian ships were utilised during the evacuation and many civilians voluntarily pioneered ships on the dangerous mission.

    the battle of britain was a battle between british and german forces. It was mainily fought in the sky and the battle consisted of britain's defense of the united kingdom from german attacks. The battle spanned from the 10th of July until 31st of October 1940. One of the main objectives of the german attacks were to make britain sign a negotiated peace treaty, presumably to the benefit of the germans.

    Operation barbarossa is a codename for the invasion of russia conducted by germany on the 22nd of June 1941. The invasion was apart of hitlers plan to increase living space for germans and expand eastwards. He vaguely declared this plan in mein kampf and invaded russia despite hit alliance with the soviet union.

    -Without the heroic actions accomplished by the D-day invasion, the allied forces may have never defeated the Nazi forces in Europe
    -Date - June 6th, 1944
    -On June 6th, 1944, more than 156,000 Americans, British and Canadian troops stormed 50 miles of normal as fiercely defended beaches in northern France
    -Atomic bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August

    • Japanese called it: typhoon/rain of steel (tetsu no bofu/ame)
    • United States Marines/Army (+UK/Canada/Australia) vs Imperial Japanese Army
    • 82 day battle
    • US had about approx. 75,000 casualties, approx. 100,000 casualties and 150,000 Okinawans kills (half the population)
  • 1945- battle of berlin

    • The suicide of Adolf Hitler and other high ranking Nazi officials
    • the unconditional surrender of the berlin city on may the 2nd
    • the capitulation of German forces still fighting the battle outside berlin on the 8/9 may, following the unconditional surrender of all German forces.
  • 1945 - Atomic bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August

    On August 6th and 9th of 1945, the U.S dropped 2 atomic bombs on the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki , the Hiroshima bomb was named Little boy and immediately killed 90% of the city along with 80,000 people and later killing tens of thousands more people from radiation exposure. 3 days later another bomb was dropped called “fat man” killing 40,000 people. On August 15th, Japan’s emperor Hirohito stated on a radio address, Japans unconditional surrender along with the into of a new and cruel bomb
