    Stalin and Hitler set up the 'Nazi-Soviet Pact'. This agreement meant that both countries would divide Poland between themselves. It benefited both countries as they could prepare for war secretly, and take back land that had been part of their countries previously. However, Hitler had no intention of sticking to the pact and still declared war on Russia.
