  • The Holocaust

    The Holocaust
    The Mass murder of certain ethnic groups in Europe. Hitler,Nazi Germany's leader, and his Nazi army killed over 11 million people. The targeted ethnic group were Jewish people living in Germany but other ethnic groups were targeted aswell.Jews were held in concentration camps were they suffered from harsh living situations. By the end of 1942 they begin to transport Jews to extermination camps. If they did not die on the journey by starvation to the camp they most likely died in Gas Chambers.
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    An agreement allowing Nazi Germany portions of Czechoslovakia.It was held to discuss Sudentenland ethnic demands by Hitler, It was held in Munich,Germany without Czechoslovakia being present basically giving czechoslovakia away without them knowing.This lead to Czech having ill feelings towards the United Kingdom and France.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg
    A method of warfare used by the Germans. Its a method were there is consistant fire,fast and powerful. Backed up with heavy air support. Its a method all about speed and surprise,it used to make it difficult for the enemy to respond effectively.
  • Non Agression Pact

    Non Agression Pact
    A pact between atleast two states stating that if in conflict the problems will be resolved through peacefull negotiation and without war. This particular Non Agression pact is the one between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The Pact did not last because Germany invaded the Soviet Union in the Barbarossa Operation.

    Germany Invades Poland
    Germany,and the Soviet Union invaded Poland which marked the begining of WW11 for Europe.The invasion occured one week after the Non Aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union.Germany invade Poland from the South,North and West.The Soviet Union's Red Army invaded Poland from the East.Although Poland had a pact with both France and the United Kingdom,there help came with little relief. So in the end all of Polands defeat made for a bigger victory for the Germans and Soviets.
  • Battle Of Britain

    Battle Of Britain
    WW11 air campaign by the Germans against the United Kingdom. It was the first major battle fought entirely by air forces. The Germans main objective was to gain control of the Royal Air Force. The Luftwaffe, Germans air force started by attacking shipping convoys and later moved to attacking Royal Air Force airfields. To prevent this, Britian forced Hitler to eventually cancel an airborne invasion of Britain.This failure of Germany was one of thier first major defeat.
  • Lend Lease Act

    Lend Lease Act
    The U.S. supplied Great Britian, France, China and the Soviet Union with supplies that would help them with the war. It said that the materials had to be used until thier return or desrtuction. This ended the United States neutral state in the war.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union in WW11. The Operation was done because of Hitler wanting to take control of the Soviet teerritories. Although the Germans had sucess in some areas lik Ukraine. It was fail on thier behalf. Due to The Soviets fierce fighting and the Germans hiccup in thier effort to take the city, thye were pushed back.It was declared a defeat for the Germans.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor led to the U.S entry into the war. Japan conducted a surprise military attack on the U.S naval base in Hawaii.Japan attacked the naval base in order to prevent interference from the U.S with the actions the Empire Of Japan was planning on against U.S territories. 2,403 americans were killed and 1,178 were wounded, aswell as 188 U.S aircrafts being destroyed.This attack came as a shock and unprovoked and essentially led to the United States entry into WW11
  • Wannsee Conference

    Wannsee Conference
    Meeting of Nazi Germany officials to decide the final solution for the Jews. In the meeting it was decided that European Jews were to be rounded up and sent to extermination camps to be killed.
  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    Filipino and American prisoners captured by the japanese army were to march 60mi to Camp O'Donnell but many died before they could get there. The japanese were not prepared for how many POW's they had and didn't know what to do with them. Most died before they got to the camp because of being pysically abused. They were beaten,starved and subdued to harsh conditions. This was labeled as a Japanese war crime.
  • Battle Of Midway

    Battle Of Midway
    The Battle was another attemp by Japan to eliminate the United States as a stategic power. There plan was to lured the american aircrafts into a trap. A main reason for the U.S. victory was credited to the Code Breakers. They were able to determine the location and date of the attack allowing the U.S. navy to set a thier own attack. The U.S. were able to take out much of the Japanese Navy.
  • Battle Of Stalingrad

    Battle Of Stalingrad
    The German started of ahead of The Soviets Pushing them back out of the city.Once in the city, Germany who was with Italians,Hungarians, and Romainians. There was also use of Rat warfare where you and the enemy were so close you could throw a grenade back before it exploded on you.Although the Germans had started off great it ended with the Soviet surrounding them and pushing them together until the Russian winter weather set in and help kill of some of the Germans.
  • D-Day

    The liberation of Europe from Nazi Germany.The men were shot down during the first round from heavy fire over looking the beach.The goal was not accomplished until July 12. There were major casualties on the allied side with 10,000 dead.
  • Battle Of Bulge

    Battle Of Bulge
    This German offensive plan was done in secrecy. Limited radio contact and even moving troop during the night occured. Despite trying to keep it a secret, the U.S. had knowledge of the plan but not the exact time and date. Although the German did have a upperhand when it came to the weather condition and was able to get through a weaken section of allied line; they were still not able to get to key rodes. Improved weathere conditions allowed for U.S. aircrafts attacks on the Germans and supplys.
  • Battle Of Okinawa

    Battle Of Okinawa
    Nicknamed The Operation Iceburg.Fought on Ryukyu Islands, this battle lasted 82 days. The allies were planning on using the island as a base for air operations on planning an invasion of Japan. This was the last serious battle for Japn before V-J day. The american easily toke the northern side island because of little resistence from japan. On the south side where Japanese defensive forces were stationed was much harder to take. It toke about three weeks and resulted in alot more casualties.
  • V-E Day

    V-E Day
    V-E Day is the day the Allies accepted Nazi Germany's surrender of its armed forces. Ending WW11 in Europe.
  • The Bombing Of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    The Bombing Of Hiroshima/Nagasaki
    The Allies were preparing for the invasion of Japan after they denied to accept the surrender conditions after V-E Day. After Manhattan Project had succesfully created an atomic bomb(Little Boy) it was dropped on Hiroshima followed by(Fat Man) being dropped in Nagasaki.Within the first few month citzens were dead due to radiation.
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    Known as The day Japan surrendered ending the WW11. The Japanese Navy was no longer able to conduct major operations and a invasion of Japan was about to happen so they surrendered. The signing of the surrender document was September 2,1945.
  • Battle Of Iwo Jima

    Battle Of Iwo Jima
    Also called Operation Detachment in which the U.S captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese. Iwo Jima was a small island said to have great tactical importance such as the airfields that were apart of the island.The location would prove to be good for damaged aircrafts to land.Because of the failed bombing attemp,the japanese were able to find hiding holes for snipers. This battle was considerably one of the bloodiest fighting of war in the pacific of WW11 with 6,891 men killed.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    Treaty among eight communist states during the Cold War. It was a reaction to West Germany's entry into NATO by the Soviet Union. It was also motivated by the soviets desire to stay in control of the military forces in central andeastern Europe. It was meant to maintain peace in Europe
