On April 6th, 1917, the United States declared war on Germany, making them officially join WW1. In the process of joining the war, President Woodrow Willsion asked Congress to declare war. He said that this was the war to end all wars. -
Frank was in the U.S Marines Corps, and he served from February 1968 to 1972. Frank was not picked to be in the Marines, he volunteered to join. He served in Vietnam, and his dates in Vietnam were September 1969 to August 1970 (11 months). Frank went to Vietnam as a corporal, and when he came back, he was a sergeant E5. He went to Vietnam right after he turned 20 years old. He was stationed in Da Nang. -
During his time in Vietnam, Frank and all the other soldiers would separate themselves from each other, with the black soldiers on neither side, and hanging out with each other. And the white soldiers would go to the same place where they only hang around their white group. Although most soldiers did, some did not. Many were isolated and by themselves. -
In June of 1968, Frank and the other troops started entering the war in Vietnam. When they entered the fight, they had used a surprise attack to get an edge on the Vietnamese soldiers. They surprised them on January 30th, 1968. -

He talks about what happened and what it was, and the My Lai Massacre was A mass killing of unarmed South Vietnamese citizens by the U.S. soldiers in the village of My Lai. The reason why it happened was that it had many factors, the U.S. soldiers being angry and frustrated with the Veits, another was that they were dehumanising the Veits because they were taught to kill their enemy, the Veits, and the U.S. soldiers were not held accountable -
On November 3rd, 1969, President Nixon announced that he would be making a deal with the South Vietnamese army so that they could send the U.S troops back to America, and they would send the South Vietnamese troops to fight the North Vietnamese. There was a lot of value in this deal, with America supplying the South Vietnamese with things like ground weapons, vehicles, aircraft, and financial aid.
