    The spark is what began WW1 as it caused several secret treaties to go into effect. after Franz Ferdinand was shot and killed this forced the European countries into the war due to the secret treaties. this created 2 sides to the first world war, the allies and the central powers.

    The Battle of Marne began on September 6th 1914. The Germans advanced 30 miles to within Paris, but within the next two days the French were reinforced with about 6,000 infantry men. the french managed to save Paris but the Germany's attained a large part of the industrial north-east part of France.

    The Battle of Verdun was long, it went from February 21st 1916 to December 18th 1916. The battle of Verdun was the longer battle of WW1 where the Germans used the war tactic of total war in order to destroy the French morale. this led to about 400,000 French casualties, there was no winner.

    The battle of Jutland started on May 31st 1916 and ended on June 1st 1916. The battle of Jutland was a naval battle between the Germans and the British, it was the largest naval battle of ww1 involving about 250 ships and nearly 100,000 troops. At the end of the battle Britain won with over 6000 casualties.

    The Battle at the Somme lasted from July 1st 1916 to November 18th 1916. The British had launched an attack in the Somme river area to pull the German troops away from Verdun. At the end of it both sides had lost a great number of troops, the British suffered 19000 casualties on the first day of fighting. by the end there was over 1 million casualties on both sides of the 5 month Battle. in the end it was a massive loss in resources and caused lasting geographical changes.

    The Zimmerman Telegram was intercepted on January 17th 1917. It requested that mexico would join the war again America in case America where to join WW1. when Americans found out about the Zimmerman Telegram it enraged them and it forced Woodrow Wilson to take America into the war.

    The Bolshevik Revolution started on March 8th 1917. it was what forced Russia out of the war, the people of Russia saw that the way it was going, staying in the war would be detrimental. they overthrew their imperial government and took Russia out of the war, eliminating the eastern front entirely.

    The Treaty of Versailles ended the first world war. The Treaty of Versailles was a war agreement between the nations that fought in the war. Germany accepted responsibility for the war and payed 6.6 million for the damages it caused, the number of people allowed in its army was also reduced to 100,000. similar repercussions were also giving to the other nations in the central powers.
