Archduke Ferdinand, heir of the Austro - Hungarian throne is shot and assassinated by Gavrilo Princip of Serbia. Because of this, Austria declared war on Serbia, starting the first world war. -
The Gallipoli Campaign.
An iconic event in the first world war. This event begun when the allies landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in the country of Turkiye. The Campaign is where we introduce the ANZAC forces of Australia and New Zealand. The Campaign was a failure however causing heavy casualties on both sides. -
The Battle of Verdun
The Germans attacked Verdun which became the longest lasting battle in the whole world war. It was one of the most brutal battles along with the Gallipoli Campaign. -
The Battle of the Somme
The battle began with the allies ( Including the ANZACS ) attacking the western front. For the Britsh Military on the first day of the battle it was one of the most brutal days for them. 19,240 British soldiers were killed in the battle.
