    The murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand

    In 6/28/1914 A secret Serbian society called the "Black Hand" killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. This sparked the start of WW1 because Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This affects America because it will affect trade routes and soon America will also join in the war.

    Britain's leader King George V declares war on Germany bringing them into ww1. Germany starts the siege of liege in Belgium. President Woodrow Wilson declares that America will be neutral.

    The sinking of the Lusitania

    On May 7, 1915 a German U-Boat sank the Lusitania, a British passenger ship. 128 Americans died and President Woodrow Wilson had to sends four diplomatic protests to Germany. The Lusitania was also a way for the U.S. to trade with Britain so that prevented America from trading with Britain.

    American's re-elected President Woodrow Wilson Because of his campaign slogan "He kept us out of war". This will affect America because Wilson will be the one who either keeps us out of war or brings us in, in the future.

    Britain intercepted a telegram sent by Germany to Mexico to get Mexico to join them and in return they will help them regain land from America. This affects America because this angers them and is a threat to them that they would be attacked, pushing them closer to war. Former President Teddy Roosevelt made a outcry when it became public.

    President Wilson decides that America will declares war on Germany. This means America has joined ww1. This will cause them to lose many lives and now America is at risk.

    The U.S first steps on to France soil

    The FIRST AMERICAN TROOPS land in France. This makes it clear that the U.S. is serious about the war. This means America is now making enemy's so now they are more likely to be attacked. The U.S is more at risk now.

    This act forbade anyone in the U.S. from talking trash about it's government, military, and etc. This went against the 1ST AMENDMENT the freedom of speech which made many American's upset.

    Germany and the Allies signed the ARMISTICE declaring that the war is over. Thus meant that America would no longer have to worry about being attacked while trading with Britain and no more lives lost.

    Treaty of Versailles

    Germany signed the Treaty of VERSAILLES formally ending ww1. It declared that Germany is the sole blame for the war. America could go back to trading with Britain and not worry about Mexico attacking and no U-boats to sink their ships.
