    Germany invades Poland, who is unprepared for the attack. Britian and France declared war when Germany refused to withdraw from Poland. This was the beginning to WW2.
  • Germany Captures France

    Germany Captures France
    Germany captures the French capital Paris. The French surrender to Germany. Hitler forces French officials sign surrender papers.
  • Battle of Britian

    Battle of Britian
    The Battle of Britian begins. It is a 3 month battle over the skies of Britian which include bombing raids on London and other cities. The are finally able to defeat Hitler by the end of October.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    Lend-Lease Act
    Franklin Roosevelt convinces congress to pass the Lend-Lease Act. This act allows the US to lend materials to any country who's defense the President seems vital to the defense of the US. This giving the president the ability to aid the British without the congresses consent.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    Japan launches a suprise attack on the American fleet near Pearl Harbor. This lead Franklin Roosevelt to ask congress for a declaration of war on Japan. Three days later Germany and Italy declared war on U.S.
  • Bombing of Cologne

    Bombing of Cologne
    The British Airforce commensed a raid on the German city of Cologne. The bombing consisted of a thousand bombers. This was the first time they brought the war home to Germany.
  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad
    Germany begins its assualt on the Russian city of Stalingrad. The battle lasts six months. The Russians defeats the Nazi invaders.
  • Defeat of German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel

    Defeat of German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel
    Troops led by General Eisenhower and General Patton joins foces with British tropps under the command of Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery. These forces join together to defeat the German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel.
  • Meeting of the Big Three

    Meeting of the Big Three
    Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin all meet together. They meet together in Tehran, Iran to discuss the invasion of Italy. It was the first time all three of them have ever met.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    Over 160,000 allied troops and 30,000 vehicles are landed along a 50-mile stretch of fortified French Coastline. France was liberated by the end of August. This was also a huge turning point in the war.
