    The Holocaust

    The holocaust was lead by German dictaor, Adolf Hilter, This man and his army put millions of Jewish civilians and gypsys in concentration camps. They tortured them, killed them and put them in ovens, starving them and seperating them from family.
  • Japan invades China

    The Japanese claimed that they were fired at by Chinese troops at the Marco Polo Bridge which is in Bejing. Essentially the Japan used this as an excuse and sent troops into China on full invasion. The army walked through China destroying anything and anyone in their path. WIthin two months of the invasion, Shanghai, the most important port in China, fell and so did Nanjing, Chiang Kai-shek’s capital.
  • Munich Conference

    France and English convinced Czechoslovakia to give back parts of its country to Germany, which was the agreement, essenatilly trying to appease Germany. In other words, it was implied that Germany was not to attack Czechoslovakia.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    The Soviet-Union and Germany came together and agreed on the Non-Aggression Pact. The Non-Aggression Pact stated that either countries would attack the other for a period of ten years. Stalin saw this time as an oppurtunity to keep his country peaceful while he built up the Soviet Military.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Hitler said that the invasion was a defense mecinism, although Britain and France did not fall for that claim. Two days later, Britain and France decalred war on Germany for invading Poland, thus the start of World War Two.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Also known as "lightening war", is a method of warefare, in which one army charges into a city or opposing army with weapons and air attack on the area.
  • Battle of Britain

    The German airforce was trying to gain air superiorty over the royal airforce of Great Britain. The German airforce was called the Luftwaffe. It was a large scale air attack on Great Britain, the royal air force excesivly defended Great Britain, causing Germany to cancel their attack on Great Britain.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    This act, formally titled as An Act to Further Promote the Defense of the United States, passed by Congress, in which America distributed war supplies to France, Great Britain, China and the USSR, helped to aid these forgein allied countries during the Second World War.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    This was the code name for Germany's invasion on Russia. Four million army soilders included in the Axis Powers invaded, making it the largest invasion in history. This was driven by Hilter. Hilter very much wanted to take over Soivet territory. This invasion carried on it, the highest number of fatalities.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Habor is a body of water, a lagoon, in Hawaii just off of Oahu. Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941 killing thousands of troops, for this horbor was/is surrounding lands is a United States Navy deep-water naval base. The horbor was attacked by 353 Japanese fighter planes and bombers. This was the American entry into World War Two.
  • Wannsee Conference

    It was a meeting of German officers. It essentialy was a meeting discussing forgien affaris against Jews, Gypsys, Polish people, handicaped, and Christians. The meeting was mainly to solve the Jewish problem within Germany. The conclusion of the meeting was legalizing exterminating Jews on the spot.
  • Bataan Death March

    The Bataan Death March was 80,000 to 60,000 prisoners that were American and Filipino, being transfered after the three month Battle of Bataan in the Philipinnes.
  • Battle of Midway

    This was a naval battle fought near the United States mid pacific base at mid-way. It was fough six months after the bombing at Pearl Harbor, via the Japanese army. The Battle of Midway was an American victory, allowing America and it's allies to move ahead and be considred to be in the offensive postion.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    German Nazi's and allies fought with the Soviet Union over control of Stanlingrad in Russia. This was the single largest and bloodiest battle in the history of warfare. The German attack on the area began via Luftwaffe bombers. The soviet union won the brutal attack on their home and defended it with honor.
  • D-Day

    D day was a battle in which the allies combined theiir forces in order to take a front against German. The most famous battle of D-Day was fought on Omaha beach in Normandie, France. D-day is knwn as dooms day and the allies took back France. D-day is also known for its casualties for the allies even though they were victorious.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Ending in Janurary 25th, 1945, it was a German attack on Beligum, France, and Luxembourg toward the end of World War Two in Europe. Hilters goal, in this battle, was to recatpure the harbour of Antwerp. Germany was unable to make it through the front line thanks to the Allied forces helped Beligum, France and Luxembourg to block off Germany.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Also known as Operation Detachment, this battle was one in which the United States armed forces fought the Japanese and then proceeded to capture the Island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese Empire. This battle in the pacific was one that lasted five weeks. The attack stragey used was invasion.
  • Okinawa

    This was the last battle in the Pacific of World War Two between 287,000 troops of the U.S. Tenth Army and 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese Thirty-second Army. This air campaign lasted eighty two days, and the Japanese general, Ushijima Mitsuru commited suicide. The United States and the allied British, won the battle.
  • V-E Day

    This was victory day in Europe. This marked acceptance by Allied powers of Nazi Germany, and their unconditional surrender of its armed foreces. This concluded the World War Two in Europe. Us troops corssed the Rhine River into the heart of Germany, aned the Soviet Union captured Berlin. Hitler commited suicide instead of surrending.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    These bombings were conducted by thet United States of America. What is interesting is the two bombings were the only use of nuclear weapons in warefare. The bomb dropped in Hiroshima wiped out 90 percent of the city, killing 80,000 people. Then, three days later another bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing 40,000 people.
  • V-J Day

    Also known as Vicotry Day Over Japan, was the day Japan surrendered, which was the end to World War Two. Japan surrendered unconditonally to the Allies. The Japanese troops surrendered on the islands of Caroline, Mariana, and Palau. The offical day in the UK for VJ day is September 15, but because of time zine differences, the date in the United States is September fourteenth.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The main objective of this Pact was that it was a treaty from communist state in Central Europe during the Cold War. The pact essentailly put the Soviets in command of the armed forces of the member states. The pact was signed in Warsaw, and included Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria. These members were to come to defense at any outside attack.
