a massive german offensive launched in the Ardennes forest. this attack was a counter offensive against u.s. and british forces. this was a major german offensive, a sort of last stand. people thought thw war would be over by christmas. the german army which was thought to be defeated blasted through the only unprotected area in belgium. they tore through the trees with their tanks on a path of destruction. -
