    Britain and France were allies in this war. Together, they decide to declare war on Germany. Neville Chamberlain let the country know that they were under attack over a public broadcast.

    Neville Chamberlain steps down from power after he is pressured from Labour members for a more exact execution of the war, Winston Churchill then took control of the allied group wartime governement. Chamberlin supported Churchill. The leader of production companies then increased production of the products, including coal production and fighter aircrafts.

    Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo)
    General Gort, commander-in-chief of the British army, ha been exhiled to the shores of Dunkirk. The trops waited to be taken away, while under heavy fire, which came when a call was placed to every sea vessel to come and take soldiers away. About 338,000 were rescued and of that, 140,00 French went on to form a group known as the Free French army under the lead of Charles de Gaulle.

    Italy and Germany attack Yugoslavia
    The Germans, also wtih the allied company of the Italians, attacked Yugoslavia. They also attacked Greece and the island of Crete. Erwin Rommel, German field marshall, led the nations, who fought against Allied Powers, back to the Northern part of Africa.

    Hitler attacks Russia- Operation Barbarossa
    Hitler invaded Russia with 350 tanks and 3 million soldiers. Stalin sent a Eastern front battle that caused 20 million deaths/injuries. The USA, who had been supplying Britain under the 'Lend-Lease' agreement, helped the USSR as well.

    Japan dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This killed many of our troops. This also started our part for our fight in the war.
  • Allies in North Africa

    Churchill demanded to General Alexander to be destructive of the German-Italian army led by Field-Marshall Ramell together with all the supplies in Egypt and Germany. He wrote this all in a letter that was given to General Alexander. As soon as the supplies were collected, Alexander handed the campaign over to General Montgomery.

    Mussolini had been thrown out of office by this time. The new government had surrendered to the USA and Britain and agreed to join as allies. The Germans then took control of the army of Italy, freed Mussolini from prison, and made him head of a puppet government in the northern part blocking any other allies advancing through Italy.

    Stalin, Roosevelt, and Churchill met to discuss plans for a move in on Germany in sync, as well as post war settlements. Roosevelt wanted to show that the West would not go against Russia. He took the side of Stalin and Churchill was out-voted.

    The allies launched an attack on France. Transports carried thousands of soldiers into Normandy.The Germans were given false facts and rushed troops to where they thought soliders had landed, then the allies invaded.
