The 1st of September 1939 is maybe the most important date from World War II, this is the day when Germany inavded Poland. This was the Start of World War II as Britian and Poland had an agreement to protect eachother, on September the 2nd, Britian and France delclare war on Germany. -

The Evacuation of Dunkirk (Operation Dynamo)
The Evacation of Dunkirk was the evacuating of allied forces. This was important as the soliders were abke to fight again later in the war instead of all dieing on the beachs. After 8 days of evacuating troops from France, they had rescued 338,226 soliders in over 800 boats. -
France Surrenders
Germany conquers France, one of the two major Allies in Europe. After British Troops pulled out of France, the country was left almost defenseless, French Troops were out gunned by the Luftwaffe and German's Armored Vechicals. -
Germany Invades Russia (Operation Barbarossa)
Germany Decides to invade Russia who was on neutral terms with Germany up until the 22nd of June, 1941. This is a key event in the war because many people believe this is what lost Germany the war. Germany moved 3 quarters of their troops to fight on the east front, where many died due to the poor conditions. Up until this point in the war Germany was only fighting one front , but now it had Russia Closing in from one side and the Allies closing in from the other side. -
Pearl Harbour
As Japan took over the Pacific they decided to domb pearl harbour, this was a turning point in the war, as the next day America declared war on the Axis powers. After the bombing of pearl harbour many Americans supported going to war, many man signed up and many women helped out in the factories to produce resources for the American Army. -

Battle of Midway is Won by the Americans
Midway was a strategic lump of land in the middle of America and Japan. Japan knew they could do more bombings on America if they took it, but America knew there plans and so the battle of midway began on the 3rd of june 1942. The battle of Midway was a Air and Sea battle, America flanked the Japanese as they were about to land at Midway. After much fearce fighting over serveral days America was able to finish off the last air craft carrier Hiryu, and send the rest into retreat. -
War in Europe is Over!
After Hitler commited suicide in April 1945 the German campaign was coming to an end, it was only a matter of time until Berlin would fall, as troops from both Russia and the Allies were closing in from both sides On the 6th of May General Alfred Jodl went to General Dwight Eisenhower's headquarters to sign a surrendor, and on the 7th Germany had surrendered. -
Hiroshima
With the United Kingdom agreeing to let America drop nuclear bombs on japan, America dropped 'Little Boy' onto Hiroshima. -
Nagasaki
3 days after 'Little Boy' was dropped onto Hiroshima, America dropped another neclear bomb ('Fat Man') onto Japanese Soil. These two Nuclear bombs killed over 129,000–246,000+. The Picture here shows the destruction on Nagasaki with a before and after shot, you can see that on the after shot there is just bare land. -
Japan Unconditionally Surrender
World war II is over! After the bombing of Tokyo on the 9th of March which killed over 100,000 Japanese, and injured another 1 million, Japan signed a surrender. The Allies had now taken back what had been taken and World War II was finished
