This was a battle to gain control of the Atlantic Ocean because Germany was trying to stop Great Britain from getting supplies. This battle lasted from the beginning of the war to May 7, 1945, with the allies coming out victorious.

Hitler wanted the city because it was the second largest in Russia and it was materialized. So he sieged the city for 872 days. There were thousands of loses, especially because of the harsh winters and by January 27, 1944 the end of the siege the Soviets were victorious.

The Wannsee Conference was a conference that took place in Berlin, Germany, to decide what to do about the Jews in Europe. This was the conference where is was decided Jews would be sent to work camps and extermination camps based on the sex and age. This conference was a secret and the people that attended were told to burn their notes after they memorized them, however, some people didn’t.

The Japanese Internment Camps were camps where Japanese-Americans were sent because some people thought they could be spies. The camp conditions were terrible; families were separated in the process of taking people to these camps. The children were forced to go to school and the parent/people would work for $5 a day or less. These camps were not completely shut down until June 30, 1946.

These camps popped up in America shortly after a huge overflow of the POW camps in Great Britain. The German prisoners were taken to a camp once they were captured by the Allies. The conditions in the camps were very good and the prisoners were given privileges that even the American citizens didn’t have, in hopes that Germany would treat their prisoners the same way. They were shut down after the war ended in 1945.

The Battle of Midway started June 3, 1942 by the Japanese. The Japanese we hoping for a quick and easy battle, however, things did not go as planned and the the Japanese lost all four of it aircraft carries while the United States only lost one. The battle ended on June 7, 1942 with the both sides suffering great losses, but the United States still claiming the victory.

This Battle was a fight over the island of Guadalcanal. The Japanese fought very hard for this island. However, the Allies did manage to take control of the island. The battle ended on February 9, 1943.

This battle was where the Germans fought the Soviet Union for control of Stalingrad. It was rumored that Hitler only wanted to take over this city because it was named after Stalin. However, it was a great humiliation to him when he lost the Battle of Stalingrad on February 2, 1943 after the German army had run out of supplies.

The Axis had millitary compaignes in North Africa getting supplies and natural resourses, like oil, to the Axis who were fighting. This ended when the Axis is forced to surrender to the Allies in Tunisia.

Shortly after the Allies landed in Sicily, they started to take control of it and by mid-August had complete control of Sicily.

This battle was fought on the beaches of Normandy. The Allies fought hand and foot against Germany, but did not end up getting what they wanted. The brutal battle ended and June 30, 1944 with Germany coming out victorious.

The Battle of the Bulge was Germany’s attempt to take split the Allies forces along the German border and reclaim Belgium. Both sides lost thousands of men but Germany ended up retreating a little over a month later on January 25, 1945.

This was the battle over an island of the coast of Japan, to capture the place the air force used to refuel. The battle started out on land but quickly moves to the air. The bombing of Hiroshima took place on August 6, 1945 and three days later the bombing of Nagasaki took place. These were the first atomic bombs ever used and caused massive damage. However, before the bombing took place America, not wanting to kill thousands of innocent people, sent out notes to citizens letting them know what cities might be bombed. However, thousands of innocent civilians still died.
