    Hitler's conquest began with invading Poland. He continued to push onwards pushing west. On Sept. 3 Britain and France outwardly declared war on Germany.
  • Winston Churchill becomes prime minister

    Winston Churchill becomes prime minister
    Winston Churchill becomes prime minister of Britain. He gets involved with the war and plays huge roles throughout the war. He will represent the country in all its decisions.
  • Battle of Britain

    The Battle of Britain lasted from July to September in the year 1940. It was the first battle to be fought with the air as the only battleground. Britain barely won against the Germans and made them move back their plans for invasion.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Hitler puts operation Barbarossa into action. To sum it up it is the plan for an invasion. The country it is intended for is Russia.

    Japan bombed the United State of America for fear that they might enter the war. Japan bombed a naval base in Hawii on December 7th 1941. This caused the United States to enter the war.

    Germany opens the concentration camp Auschwitz. This marks the beginning of the holocaust. Thousands of jews are slaughtered daily.

    Was a huge turning point for the war going on in the Pacific between the U.S and Japan. It was a naval based battle and took place at sea. The U.S got the upperhand in the battle and began to turn that side of the war around.

    This was the German's first surrender during the war. It was also Germany's first major defeat. The Allies had found ways to combat the German U-boats including long range aircraft.
  • Italy Surrenders

    Italy Surrenders
    Italy surrendered to the Allied powers making it the first of the Axis powers to surrender. The Allied Powers invaded Italy after its victory in North Africs. Germany picked up the fight after Italy surrendered and began to pick up the pieces of its country.

    D-day
    D-day was at one time named "Operation Overlord", the name does not change the facts. Thousands of Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy and were under enemy attack. The Allied forces slowly push back the German forces and work their way towards Germany.
