    Battle of Brittan
    Occurred in July 1940-October 1940 The Germans were bombing Brittan because they wanted to conquer them. Some of the German troops went across the English Channel. It happened because Germany was trying to stop British air forces, wanted Brittan to surrender, and because the Germans were bombing Brittan. This was the first war the Germans lost so it showed that Germany could be defeated. About 1,300 hundred people lost their lives.
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord
    Operation Overlord is a code name for Battle of Normandy and is also called D-Day. The countries involved in Operation Overlord were Germany, Great Brittan, Allies, and France. Also the U.S General Dwight D was involved. It happened because the Allies wanted to attack Normandy to push out the Nazis. 160,000 Allied troops landed along French coastline to fight Nazi Germany, on the beaches of Normandy, France. At the end, Allies had control of Normandy and soldiers began marching defeat Hitler.

    The countries involved with Operation Barbossa was Germany, Axis Allies, Soviet Union, and Russia. It happened because Hitler wanted Russia's resources. It happened in Russia and the Axis began a massive invasion. The outcome is that Russia joined the Allies.

    Bombing of Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, 1941 on Sunday at 7:55am Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Oahu, HI. It happened because Japan wanted to take out the majority of the U.S navy resources and because the U.S froze Japan bank accounts and stopped sending natural resources to Japan. Two waves of Japanese planes attacked. (From the East and West) After this the U.S declares war on Japan and enters the war.

    Bataan Death March
    The Bataan Death March happened because Japan needed to transport their prisoners to camps. It happened in Bataan and the march started marching up the coast of Bataan. The Japanese assembled 78,000 prisoners (12,000 American and 66,000 Filipino) marched up the coast of Bataan and the prisoners did not know they were marching to Camp O’Donnell. The significance history is that it was one of the largest surrenders on American History.

    Battle of the Bulge
    Battle of the Bulge took place in between December 16, 1944-January 28, 1945. The countries involved were Germany, England, and the U.S. Battle of the Bulge happened in Southeast Belgium and it happened because it was the last chance Hitler had of winning the war. What happened was that the German army launched a counter offense that was intended to cut through the Allies forces in a manner that would turn the war to Hitler's favor. It is significant because it was Hitler's last major offense.

    The Yalta Conference took place from February 4-11, 1945. The important people were: President Franklin D. Roosevelt (U.S), Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Great Brittan), and Primer Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union). The Ally leaders had a conference in Yalta. Yalta is in Yalta is in Crimea. It happened because they knew that war was coming to an end. The leaders decided that Germany would be divided into 3 zones and German war criminals would be put to trial. It dealt w/ the re-establishment.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    Battle of Iwo Jima lasted from February 19, 1945-March 26, 1945. It happened because the U.S military was already "island hoping" and Iwo Jima is within safe bomber range of almost the entire southern half of Japan, so the loss of the island would mean the U.S could start bombing and wipe out Japan's economy. What happened is that the U.S invaded Iwo Jima what was held by Japan. The outcome was that the U.S gained control of Iwo Jima, the airfields there, and the marines "raising" the U.S flag.

    V-E Day
    n May 8 is the formal celebration of V-E Day. The countries involved were the Western Allies and Germany. It happened because the Allies were closing in on Berlin, Germany; Hitler committed suicide, so the Nazis surrendered. V-E Day happened all over Europe and it was the end of World War II.

    Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
    America dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities: Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Enola Gay was the plane that carried the bomb known as "Little Boy" at 8:15 in the mourning on August 6, 1945. And on August 9, 1945 at 11:02 in the mourning a bomb called "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki. The bombing happened because the U.S was trying to get Japan to surrender and end the war. That led to V-J day. (Victory of Japan)

    V-J day is short for Victory over Japan. The countries that were involved were Japan and the U.S (kind of). Japan surrendered because on August 6, 1945 the U.S dropped an Atomic bomb the Japanese city of Hiroshima and 3 days later another bomb on Nagasaki. After the bombing the Japanese government agreed to surrender. Than on August 15 it was proclaimed V-J day. The outcome was that it was the end of World War II and it was Victory over Japan.
