    The Japanese army invaded China in 1937 in order to expand their territories and turn Japan into an imperialistic power.The invasion caused the Second Sino-Japanese War which lasted til the end of the World War. The war cost nearly 35 million lives but Japan was stopped.
  • Fall of Paris

    Fall of Paris
    France was attacked by Germany in May of 1940 as a defensive action for when Hitler invaded Poland for more space for Germans to live. At the time, France had a very powerful army and was expected to win but instead,Germany was able to defeat them in a mere six weeks.The collapse of France lead to shifts in power in Europe.

    Pearl Harbor
    This US Naval Base, located in Hawaii, was attacked by Japanese Air Services around 8 am because Japan wanted to scare America into staying neutral in the war. 8 Battle ships were sunk, roughly 2,400 people died, and 1,200 were wounded. This event caused America to join the war on the Allies side.

    D-Day
    The Normandy Invasion is one of the most famous events from World War II. The invasion took place along the northern coast of France in order to liberate France and start the liberation of the rest of Europe. Thousands of troops successfully secured the beach but, roughly 4,000 soldiers died. The event eventually led to and Allie victory and Germany retreating from France.

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Battle of the Bulge was the last German offensive campaign on the western front during the war. The Battle took place in the Ardennes Mountains region. The attack was intended to split the allied forces but the Allies were able to stop the Germans despite the 100,000 casualties they suffered.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    This battle took place on an island under Japan's power and resulted in an American Victory in Iwo Jima. The island was invaded in order to provide the US with a military base near Japan. The entire Japanese garrison was killed except 1,000 prisoners. America lost 5,900 and suffered 17,400 injuries.

    Liberation of Concentration Camps
    All the Concentration Camps in World War II were officially liberated in 1945. The Germans had to abandon many of the camps in order to retreat from the Allies. Many of the camps were found by Allie armies and were then freed. Millions of lives were saved and the war soon ended.
  • VE Day

    VE Day
    VE Day was the official day of victory in Europe. In 1945, Nazi Germany surrendered unconditionally and the war in Europe was over.
  • Dropping the Atomic Bombs

    Dropping the Atomic Bombs
    The US dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima in order to end the war with Japan and resulted in the annihilation of the entire city. 80,000 were immediately killed but tens of thousands were killed following the event. 3 Days later, the US dropped a second bomb on the city of Nagasaki. 40,000 more died and Japan officially surrendered.
