    World War II Begins.
    With the rise of Hitler in Germany, Mussolini in Italy, and Japan invading Asia the war begins. Germany would start by invading Poland. Two days later Britain and France declare war. It would be six years until peace was found again.

  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad
    After being unable to capture Britain, Germany turned it's attentions to the Soviet Union. Germany made huge advances in Russia, until winter hit. At Stalingrad the Russians were able to make use of the winter to drive the Germans back. In the spring of 1943 Germany would make another advance leading to the Battle of Stalingrad. Nearly the entire German sixth army was destroyed. This marked the beginning of the end for Germany.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    On December 7, 1941 the Japanese air fleet would attack the American Naval Base in Pearl Harbor. U.S. planes and naval ships in and around the harbor were destroyed by two seperate Japanese waves. This event would finally bring America into World War II, and spark prejudice against Japanese Americans.
  • Battle of Midway

    Battle of Midway
    A battle fought near the Central Pacific Island of Midway from the June 4th through 7th of 1942. Before this the Japanese ran rampant through the Pacific. The Japanese would try to take Midway and destory the U.S. Pacific Fleet. However, the U.S. would ambush the Japanese Fleet sinking four of their carriers. After this battle the Allies took the offensive in the Pacific.

    Mussolini having been removed from power, and the Allies invading Italy from the south would lead to the surrender of Italy. German would quickly react to this event and try to regain control of Italy. However, these efforts would be futile.

    On June 6th of 1944 Allied forces, headed by General Eisenhower, would invade France from Normandy. Dubbed D-Day this would mark the beginning of Allied Forces working through France and Beligum then into Germany. From this point it would only take until May 7th of 1945 for Germany to surrender.

    Germany Surrenders
    Just a short time after the death of Mussonlini and suicide by HItler Germany surrenders in Italy. With Germany's fall the war in Europe would be over. Forces would now be focused towards Japan and the end of the war.
  • Hiroshima

    On Monday, August 6, 1945 the Atomic Bomb "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima from an Amercian B-29 bomber. The intial explosion killed an estimated 80,000 people. By the end of the year the death toll from radiation would reach as high as 140,000 people. The bomb was dropped as one of two Atomic bombs by the Allies in an attempt to force Japan into surrendering.

    Nagasaki
    On August 9, 1945 the U.S. would drop a second Atomic Bomb on Japan. This bomb, dubbed "Fat Man", would be dropped on the city of Nagasaki. This second bomb would kill an estimated 70,000 people in Nagasaki. After this bombing Japan would finally surrender, though half of the war committee wanted to continue fighting, even after this devastation.

    The War Ends.
    Although Japan surrendered several week prior, it wouldn't be until September 2, 1945 that the peace treaty was offically signed. This would mark the complete end of World War II and the war in the Pacific. After 6 years of fight, the world was finally at peace again. However, massive recovery efforts would have to be put into progress .
