    Battle of the Atlantic

    It starts when a British passenger liner is targeted and sunk by a German U-Boat.The German submarines were sent of in "wolf packs", the German knowing very well that the outcome would be victory, and if the gained power of the Atlantic it owuld have stopped Britatin being able to resupply food, clothes and ammunition, that was why it was so important to prevent Germany from taking over the Atlantic.

    events leading up to and events of Dunkirk

    Winston Churchill sensed that there was going to be a huge loss of soldiers at Dunkirk so he started preparing vessels to go and fetch them. Hitler orders his forces not to cross the Lens-Bethune-St Omer-Gravelines line, so the allied troops could retreat to the coast. Operation Dynamo officially ends, and 338,326 soldiers in total were saved.

    Was a struggle for control of the Suez Canal and access to oil from the Middle East and raw materials from Asia. When Italy invaded Ethiopia from its colony Italian Somaliland. The move made Egypt very wary of Italy's imperialistic aspirations. In reaction, If the Italians remained neutral, British access to the vital sea lanes would remain almost assured. in 1941 The United States joined and directed military assistance.

    The Battle Of Britain

    Due to Britains network intelligence and growing radar proficency made us able to detect when a wave of German aircraft were coming. We were able to hold our ground until there was bad weather and Hitler postponed Operation Sea-Lion. Southampton,Portland and Andover were hevaliy bombed though.

    Operation Barabossa

    Is when Hitler decides to invade the Soviet Union. It marked the pivotal phase and when things start back fireing in Hitlers plan to be the most powerful country. Due to invading the Soviet Union this caused major fatalites to Hitlers Army so therefore weakaning it.

    Pearl Harbour

    A large fleet of Japanese naval ships set sail for Hawaii. The Americans tried to get a message out to Hawaii but it was to late. On sunday 7th september at 6:00am the first wave of Japanese aircrafts take of from their carriers. At around about 7:15 the second wave follows. The attack on Pearl Harbour ends at 9:45am and over 2,400 people are killed, because of this the United States and Britain formally declare war on the Empire of Japan.

    D-Day was when France was invaded and conqured by Germany, built up defences along the coast, but British, Americand and Canadian forces came together and created fake planes and airfields so the German spy could take pictures of them, so when the real planes came, Germany wasn't ready and so therefore we were able to secure the Beachheads.

    The dropping of the Atomic Bombs

    The dropping of the Atomic Bombs were a sort of revenge for the United States due to Pearl Harbour, except the Atomic Bombs created much more damage because not only did the bombs just kill people but they created radiation which isvery painful and often ends in death. when the Bombs landed they basically incinerised people in a large area of where the bombed landed, people were also killed by the debris and radiation sickness. Eight days afterward Japan announced it's surrender to the Allies.
