    Battle of Britain
    On July 12th 1940, Germany blocked the airways over England, so that nobody in England could get in or out of England, while dropping bombs into England. Germany did this because Germany wanted to take over England, and they thought the only way they could do that was to gain air superiority. In mid October 1940, Germany surrendered because they didn’t have enough flying combat.

    Operation Barbarossa
    On June 22nd, 1941, the USSR was attacked by 4.5 million Axis Powers troops because Hitler wanted to conquer the USSR. Operation Barbarossa happened in the European parts of the USSR, because Hitler wanted to take over land in USSR, and use the people in the Soviet Union as slaves for labor. Also, he knew certain fields of Ukraine, and oil fields in Caucasus would come in handy. On December 5th, 1941, Russia became Germans allies and Germans then fought in the East
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    On Sunday, December 7th, 1941, Japanese navy pilots bombed the US port of Pearl Harbor. Two waves of Japanese planes attacked from the east and west of Oahu, Hawaii. Japan did this to take out the majority of the US navy, because the US had stopped all resources from being traded with Japan and the US froze japan. In the end, US declared was on Japanese and The Us entered World War II
  • Bataan Death march

    Bataan Death march
    On the 9th of April 1942, in Bataan, Japan, the American and Pilipino prisoners of war were forced to march 85 miles in 6 days, and were only allowed one meal, a bowl of rice. The Bataan death march happened because the Japanese captured large amounts of Americans and Pilipino men and women early in the war, and they had no sufficient way to transport the, and they didn’t have food or medicine. The Death march led to the largest surrender in American History on April 15th, 1942
  • Operation Overlord

    Operation Overlord
    On June 6th, 1944, the American, British, and Canadian armies attacked beach heads as they stormed into Normandy to finish the last of Hitler’s third rike in Normandy France, because they wanted to get the Germans out of France. On the 25th of August 1944, the focus changed to defeating Hitler and the Germans.

    Battle of the Bulge
    On December 16th, 1944, British, French, Canadian, and American forces were lined up on Germanys western frontier ready to attack, and then Hitler captured Antwerp in Ardennes section. This all happened because Hitler tried to break up the allies. On January 25th 1945, Germany's armed forces was defeated by the allies.
  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    On February 4th through 11th, 1945, the US, UK, Soviet Union, President Franklin Roosevelt, Prime minister Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin met in Yalta, Ukraine, to confirm a postwar conference on what would happen to Europe after World War II. The meeting was intended to discuss the re-establishment of Europe, because it was torn up and damaged. On February 11th Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin formed the United Nations, and the war was started against Japan after Germany was defeated
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    On February 19th, 1945, the United States captured Iwo Jima from Japan because the US wanted to conquer all of Japan, and was island jumping in Japan to get closer and closer to conquering the main land of Japan. On March 26th 1945, the US gained control of Iwo Jima.

    On May 8th, 1945, the Nazi allies surrendered to the western allies in Eurpoe, because the allies closed in on Berlin and defeated the Nazi's. This was the beginig, of the end of World War II
  • Dropping of the Atomic Bomb

    Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
    On the 6th, and the 9th, or August 1945 the US dropped a bomb on Nagasaki, japan, and they surrendered. The United States demanded immediate, unconditional, surrender before the bomb was dropped, so after three days with no response from Japan, the US dropped the bomb. In the end, japan surrenders, and the war ends.

    V-J Day
    On August 14th, 1945, Japan surrendered to the United States, because America had bombed japan for not immediately, unconditionally surrendering quick enough. This day marks the day the war ended between Japan and the US
