Annexation of Sudetenland
Sudetenland is rich in natural resources necessary for war and was lost during the treaty of Versailles. Hitler wanted Germany back to to its roots so on March 15, 1939, Germany invaded Czechoslovakia. This was against the Munich pact. They took over and destroyed Czechoslovakia in only one day when it ended on March 16, 1939.

Pearl Harbor
After months of the Japanese planning they bomber US Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on December 7, 1941. At this point US was neutral in World War 2. Japan shocked the US and bombed Pearl Harbor with a surprise attack. Japans goal was to destroy our entire pacific fleet. Pearl Harbor started at 7:55 am and ended at a little after 9:00 am. This horrific event led us to join WW2.

Japanese Internment Camps
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor it left a horrific effect on Japanese Americans. Racism was through the roof in the West Coast where many Japanese Americans lived. On February 19, 1942, Roosevelt made the executive order 9066. This order sent thousands and thousands of Japanese Americans to interment camps because many correlated them to the reason behind Pearl Harbor.

The Philippines
On march 11, 1942, Douglas MacArthur gave up the Philippines under order from the president. The Philippines and its great natural resources were a huge part of Japans greed on the Philippines and the pacific. After Island Hopping across the pacific the US landed in the Philippines. On August 15, 1945 after fighting the Philippines were freed from Japan.

Battle of Midway
This battle was the turning point for World War 2 in the pacific theater. This battle was between the US and Japanese navy located at Midway Island. This air-sea battle was won by the US after breaking Japanese codes knowing Japan would be coming soon. Japan lost an extreme amount of supplies and men during this battle which hurt them severely for the rest of the war.

Guadalcanal
The US surprise attacked Japan on all forms of warfare in the Solomon Islands. The allies destroyed Japans moral and supplies. The importance of this battle was it set the allies up for victory as the war was slowly coming to an end. Because of this Allie victory, Japan had less supplies to fight out the rest of the war.

Island Hopping
Island hopping was a technique used during world war 2. This technique was used by the US in the pacific front of the war to take back all the islands Japan took over. This technique allowed the US to get places quicker which gave the Japanese no time to fight back or to recover. Because of this technique the US and its allies were able to win the war and take back all of what Japan took over.

Stalingrad
This was a battle between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. This battle is known as one of the deadliest battles. Hitler wanted to invade Stalingrad for its propaganda and resource purposes to help him finish the war. This battle was a major win for the allies after stopping Germany from invading into the soviet union. The allies pushed them back and this was Hitlers first loss of the war.

D-Day
Also known as operation overlord was a major battle towards ending the war. This battle was an attempt to push Germany back by the allies fighting along the french coast on 5 beaches in Normandy. With large numbers of forces and hard core training the Allies pushed back Germany which we now know as the turning point of the war on the European theater.

Meeting at Yalta
A meeting where Franklin D. Roosevelt (US), Winston Churchill (British), and Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union) met to discuss the post war arrangement's. This meeting was key for the post war organization. This meeting determined how Germany and the rest of Europe would be divided among the allies.

Fall of Berlin
Also known as the battle of Berlin, was an operation done by the Soviet Union to end the war in the European theater. Because of the huge amount of German casualties in this battle it prevented them from winning this. The soviet union beat them down and took over the city and Germany surrendered to the allies.

Death of Hitler
Hitler spent his final day underground in a bunker. Hitlers Allie leader Mussolini was killed and tortured in front of many. Hitler didn't want that. Instead, Hitler committed suicide by taking a cyanide pill and shooting himself in the head. After this, Germany surrendered and they lost World War 2.

Los Alamos
Los Alamos was the location of a top secret project under the US government. The Manhattan project was an unspoken project working on the first atomic bomb. After a long 27 months the first atomic bomb was created and tested in Los Alamos in the dessert on July 16, 1945. This is where we determined the Atomic bomb worked and that we should use it on Japan.

Meeting at Potsdam
A conference where Harry Truman (US), Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union), and Clement Attlee (British), came together to discuss the peace settlements in Europe post war. The Potsdam and Yalta conference set us up for the cold war. They further determined the split of Germany among the allies and made the final decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan.

Hiroshima
After the US spent lots of time working on the atomic bombs, Truman decided to drop the first on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6. This decision was huge because it would lead to lots of civilian casualties, but it prevented our military from loosing lots of our men. The US dropped this bomb hoping it would get Japan to surrender but they didn't.
