    Shoah

    Shoah is the term preferred by the Jewish for the Holocaust - the German systematic slaughter of European Jews. 1933: the rights of Jews start getting taken away. Germans began constructing concentration, or death camps, in 1941. Jewish people would be round up and sent to the camps and killed. in 1939, the cmaps became death camps (at first they were just isolation camps)
  • World War 2 Begins

    Germany invades Poland with Blitzkrieg to begin the war.
  • Maginot Line

    The German troops attacked the Maginot Line ( a line of defenses along the French Border)
  • Battle of Staligrad

    The Russian winter helped them with the Geramn troops. They scorched the earth and any materials which the German's may have wanted to use
  • Peral Harbor

    Japan bombed the US naval base in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor. This was the main reason America joined the war.
  • Japanese American Relocation

    All the Japanese on the West Coast (Including Japanese-Americans) were sent to dentention camps or interment camps
  • D-Day

    Operation Overlord, the Allied-invasion of France, began on D-Day. Beginning in Normandy, the Allies drove through France for months, coming from different sides of the border to make the Axis powers fight on multiple fronts.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    In France, the Germans tried to create and attack a bulge in the Allied lines. Hitler put a lot of troops into the battle, but he lost. This determined the Germans future.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    A 6 week battle near Tokyo where almost over 20,000 soldiers died. Parallels the battle of the bulge as far as it depleted the Japanese forces.
  • United Nations Created

    The United Nations was a postwar international organization, whose headquarters were established in New York City. The goal of the United Nations was to settle international disputes peacefully in order to achieve world peace.
