    On the 1st of September, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. German forces invaded Poland from all sides. This happened on the morning after the Gleiwitz incident. After Poland was invaded, Germany was asked by the Allies Britain and France to surrender and give back Poland. The Allies have previously promised to protect Poland. However, Hitler refused this request. This started World War Two.

    In May 1940, Hitler's forces attacked France and occupied the Netherlands,Luxembourg and Belgium. France surrendered on the 22nd of June in 1940. Germany built up its forces on its western frontier during this period of time. By the time France surrendered, Hitler had already taken over half of the Europe.

    The Japanese Navy attacked Pearl Habour with a surprise military strike on the morning of the 7th of December,1941.
    In the United States Territory of Hawaii, the Japanese army destroyed 8 U.S. Navy battleships and 188 battleplanes; over 2000 American soldiers died.The attack caused the United States to enter World War Two.

    The Battle of Midway was a big naval battle between Japan and the U.S.A.in the Pacific battlefield of World War Two. The battle occured between the 3rd and the 7th of June, 1942. This was just six months after the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor.
    Japan's defeat in this battle was a turning point in the Pacific Battle and this turned out to be a very important event in World War Two.

    From July to November in 1942, along the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, Japanese forces and Australian army fought a series of battles. The Kokoda Track Campaign was very important in the battle between U.S.A. and Japan.

    The Battle of Stalingrad was fought between 1942 and 1943.The battle for the city Stalingrad was one of the most brutal fights in World War Two. German and Russian armies fought for every street and building. The battle at Stalingrad tired out the German army. Following the defeat, the Germans were in full retreat. This battle is the most important turning point in World War Two in Europe.

    On the 6th of june in 1944, there were 24,000 American, British, and Canadian airborne troops landing in Normandy shortly after midnight. Allied armed forces began landing on the coast of France at 06:30.
    The landing in Normandy signalled the beginning of the Allies fighting back.

    Allies enter Berlin and Hitler commits suicide.

    In April of 1945, the Allies entered Berlin. On the 30th day of the same month, Adolf Hitler commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head in a bunker under his headquarters in Berlin. This signalled the end of World War Two in Europe.

    With the consent of the United Kingdom,the U.S.A. dropped two nuclear bombs onto the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. It was nearly the final stage of World War Two. The two bombings killed at least 129,000 Japanese. This event still remains as the only use of nuclear weapons in history. After the two nuclear attacks, Japanese could no longer fight back.

    The Empire of Japan announced they would surrender unconditionally on the 15th of August, 1945. They formally signed the treaty on the 2nd of September in the same year. This was the end of the Pacific war and also the end of World War Two.
