Miracle at Dunkirk
The Miracle happened between May 27 - June 4 1940. The Germans managed to trap the French and British from 3 sides. The British could only escape from the sea.
This is an important part of WWII because without this Miracle then the Nazis might have won the war, because the Allies would have lost more than 338,000 men. But because of that miracle they were saved and were able to continue fighting later on. -
Battle of Dieppe
Dieppe was a battle that was doomed for the Allies when it first started. Many Canadian troops were lost during battle and many allied troops were taken as prisoners of war. This battle was an important one because the Allies learned from their mistakes. They improved for the battle of D Day.

D Day
D Day was the largest seaborne invasion. The battle was between the Allies and the German that occurred on June 6th 1944, at Normandy to the south. This was an important battle because this was the battle that separated the German troops into fighting 3 different fronts, east, west and south.it was also the beginning of the end for Germany -
VE Day
VE stands for “Victory Europe.” VE day represents the day Germany surrendered to the Allied Forces on 8 May 1945. Benito Mussolini and Hitler both died. On April 30th when Hitler died, the war was basically over. Allies celebrated VE day. This is an important part of WWII because this is when the war against the Germans end and the Allies won. -
Atomic Bombing in Japan/ Bombing in Hiroshima
United States dropped the "little boy" on Hiroshima. Which killed approximately 80,000 people. This is important because it led to Japan surrendering. -
VJ Day
VJ stands for “Victory over Japan Day”. VJ day represents the day the Japanese surrendered which is on August 14th 1945. As well as September 2nd 1945, because that was when they signed the instrument of surrender, which officially end the Second World War. It is an important part of WWII because the war was finally officially over and the Allies have won against the Japanese.
