    The country of Japan made a surprise attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii, and declared war on Britain and the United States.

    The Executive Order 9066 stated that all Japanese personnelles and/ or personelles of asian decent, nust leave their homes immediately and head to internment camps.

    Bataan Death March

    After surrendering to Japan, malnurished American and Philippine soldiers were forced on a brutal 70 mile walk. The Japanese tourtured them along the way with maggot filled water, beatings, starving them, and making them rest on scorching hot pavement.

    The Battle of Midway

    It was a three day battle between America and Japan. It was fought near the Central Pacific island of Midway. Japan's loss of the battle postponed their plans to take over New Caledonia, Fiji, and Samoa. It gave the Allied Powers an advantage in the war, by giving them the offensive in the Pacific.

    The Invasion of Normandy is also known as D- Day. The attack was lead by General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

    This battle was Hitler's last attemp to try to stop the Allied Power's advance on Germany. He lost.

    President Roosevelt dies and Truman takes over.
  • Germany Surrenders

    On May 2nd, Colonel General Alfred Jodl of the German army signed the terms of unconditional surrender. The world celebrates the defeat on May 8th. This day is also know as VE Day. Even though the war did not completely end until five years, eight months, and seven days later.

    Potsdam Conference

    It was a gathering of the 'Big Three' leaders. British Prime Minister Clement Atlee,U.S. President Harry S. Truman, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin met in Berlin to discuss post-war arrangements in Europe and future plans in the war with Japan.
  • Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima

    At around 8:15 A.M. American B-29 bomber, Enola Gay, dropped the 15 kilioton atomic bomb called the Little Boy on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
  • Atomic Bomb dropped on Nagasaki

    Approximately 72 hours after Hiroshima, American B-29 bomber, Bockscar, dropped the 20 kiloton Atomic bomb, known as the 'Fat Man' on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.
  • Japan Surrenders

    Japan accepted the terms of the Potsdam Declaration and agreed to surrender. This day is also known as VJ Day. Then on September 2, 1945 Japan signs the unconditional surrender.
