They were driving in their limousine when a small bomb starts hurtling towards the archduke and his wife. They missed it but later that day they were shot by Gavrilo Princip. -
Just one month after the death of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Austria- Hungary declare war on Serbia. This was the start of World War 1. It was also the response to the previously motioned assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Russia began to rally its forces to support Serbia due to prior agreements. Germany allied with Austria- Hungary then declared on Russia later on. -
Following Russia's call in defense of Serbia, Austria- Hungary invades Russia. In the first months of the war, Austria- Hungary faced challenging setbacks against Russian forces. The Russian Army launched several offensives into Austria- Hungary's eastern territories. -
The Eastern Front was mostly fought between mostly Russia and Germany. It is fought across Eastern Europe. The fronts were easier to break through. The Russian army was very underpaid. They went into the war on little training. They had very few weapons. There were many casualties suffered. -

In the morning of August 23rd, Germans guns opened fire on the British positions at Mons. A decision was made to withdraw the troops as soon as possible. By the time the Battle had ended, there was a total of 1,600 casualties. -

President Woodrow Wilson signed a joint resolution to end America's neutral stance on ongoing global conflict. The main reason why President Wilson wanted to start war with Germany was because Germany's resumption of submarine attacks on passenger and merchants ships. -
The treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed between the Bolshevik government of Soviet Russia and the central powers. The teams in the central powers were Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire. When Russia signed the treaty, that ended their participation in World War 1. -
